Fiona Kerr: Featuring Flour.

4th April, 2013 —

The flour  (from Powlett Hill, about 120km from here) arrived at last late last night so the long promised pancakes were at last delivered.  As is traditional at our place, we had our first few savory with haloumi.  Usually from Cyprus. This time I got some made in Australia. But whether it is made in Victoria, I don’t know.  There is no phone number on the package  so I have sent an email enquiry.    Much yummier were our sweet pancakes with home made yoghurt and the quince syrup from yesterday.  Very Very good!

I don’t  think making bread is part of the challenge. We have a very good sourdough bakery nearby.  But making bread feels like part of the challenge, or where we’d like to get to. And I now have a lot of flour to use!  So I made a couple of loaves, which we ate warm, with butter for lunch.

Finally, dinner was Matt’s famous cheesy dahl, with local veggies and toast on the side. Pears to follow.   And some more toast for supper.
