Katherine Smedley: Day 4

9th April, 2014 —

The week has started strangely.  Between being sick and working night shift, we have not been shopping.  So far, we are living on products out of the cupboards, the weekly Ceres Fair Foods box and the vegie garden.  Breakfasts have consisted of toast from a Footscray Vietnamese bakery, with Devondale butter (Gippsland) and honey (Victorian) or jam (South Australian).  Unfortunately one of the household got the wrong message and thought no supermarket shopping meant great difficulty, so one lunch was 2 minute noodles (which I’m sure are not local or organic…or healthy!).  Anyway we have sorted that glitch out and gone back to sandwiches.  Dinners have been yummy omelettes (Eggs from a farm near Ballarat) with home grown roast potatoes and Ceres pumpkin.  The cheese was Nimbin (NSW).  I assume at some stage we will have to venture out for food, so we will then pay careful attention to origin and distance from Melbourne.
